Luc van der Horst

I’m Luc, freelance Dutch tutor and lifelong language nerd. I taught myself to read at age three, then taught myself English at a young enough age to reach a native level without being raised by native speakers. Since then, I have studied varying amounts of French, German, Latin, Spanish, Arabic (formal and Egyptian), and Sinhala.

After getting my bachelor degree in anthropology from Amsterdam University College, I studied second language education and literature education at the University of Amsterdam. I am deeply interested in the structure of language as well as its everyday use and I aim to give my students a solid understanding of both.
